Our cooperative has a long and proud history of serving farmers throughout Central Wisconsin. With roots dating back as far as 1912, our cooperative was formed when a group of farmers joined together in order to gain greater purchasing power and maximize potential for success in their farming operations. We take that legacy seriously. Though we have had mergers, acquisitions and many changes over the years, our shared commitment to our member-owners has never wavered. We exist for our members.

Membership Information

We believe there are many reasons to join our cooperative - great service, competitive pricing, and an array of member benefits are just a few.

As a farmer's cooperative, voting privileges at Allied Cooperative are limited to active producers of agriculture products who meet the minimum purchase requirements. However, all members agriculture or non-agriculture -- qualify for member benefits.

Joining the cooperative is easy. Simply complete a membership application/credit application and return to Allied Cooperative.

Our History

While the Allied Cooperative name is young, our cooperative is anything but. Our roots date back to the late 1910s and early 1920s, when farmers in several local communities formed cooperatives to help improve their purchasing and selling power and improve stability in their farming operations. 

Over the years, these cooperatives merged and acquired new business units to improve efficiency and enhance services. In October 2023, ProVision Partners Cooperative and Allied Cooperative joined together to form the cooperative our members see today. Believing that the cooperatives already had two strong names, the Boards made the decision to forego the expense of rebranding and trademarking a new name, and chose to move forward with ProVision Partners Cooperative, doing business as Allied Cooperative. 

While much has changed over the years, our commitment to our members and the cooperative tradition continues to stand the test of time. It’s a tradition we are proud of and one that we plan to build upon well into the next generation. 

Key Dates In our Cooperative’s History 

 

1912Farmers Cooperative Produce Company of Marshfield (Marshfield Co-op) was formed. At the end of its first year of operation, sales of flour, feed, grain, hay, produce and farm machinery total just under $4,000.
1915Harmony Co-op established.
1918Farmer’s Co-op Shipping & Supply Association was formed in West Salem.
1919Kilbourn Co-op Exchange was formed in Kilbourn, WI (known today as Wisconsin Dells).
1920Farmer’s Co-op Elevator Company began.
1921The Mauston Farmer’s Co-op was formed.
1923Pittsville Farm Bureau Warehouse was founded.
1926Stratford Farmer's Produce Company was organized.
1945Wood County Cooperative formed with the merger of Arpin, Vesper, and Pittsville Farm Bureau Warehouse.
1947Farmer’s Union Co-op began in Adams.
Late 1950sFarmer’s Central Co-op of Mindoro was established.
1983Tomah Farmer’s Co-op merged with Tomah Co-op Oil Association and became Tomah Co-op Services.
1992Farmer’s Co-op of West Salem purchased AG Cooperative properties in Galesville and Melrose, expanding their territory to the north.
1995Harmony Co-op and Wood County Cooperative merged to form Harmony Country Cooperative.
1996Farmer’s Co-op of West Salem merged with Farmer’s Central Co-op of Mindoro. At the same time, Marshfield Co-op and Stratford Farmer's Cooperative Produce Company joined forces.
2001Farmer’s Union Co-op in Adams and Mauston Farmer’s Co-op (which had previously merged with Kilbourn Co-op Exchange) joined forces to better service Central Wisconsin with its wide array of products and services. The merged cooperative was renamed Wisconsin River Co-op.
2006Tomah Co-op Services purchased Rasmussen Oil to expand its fuel operations.
2012Farmer’s Co-op of West Salem and Tomah Co-op Services merged to become Farmer’s Co-op Supply and Shipping Association. At the same time, Wisconsin River Co-op looked to build a new fertilizer and grain facility in Tomah to better meet the needs of its customers in the area. Recognizing that two cooperatives in the same town was not a good scenario for either organization, the boards of Wisconsin River Co-op and Farmer’s Co-op Supply and Shipping Association began merger talks.
2013Allied Cooperative was formed from the merger of Wisconsin River Co-op and Farmer’s Co-op Supply and Shipping Association. The cooperative purchases grain facilities in Blair and Wisconsin Rapids later this year.
 2015ProVision Partners Cooperative was formed with the merger of Central Wisconsin Cooperative and Harmony Country Cooperatives.  At the same time, Arcadia Co-op joins Allied Cooperative.
2016ProVision Partners Cooperative began development of the Auburndale site, which was completed in 2017. The Feed Mill began operation in 2018.
2017ProVision Partners Cooperative entered a feed partnership with Federation
Co-op and the Humbird feed Mill.
2019ProVision Partners Cooperative acquired Federation Co-op.  
2020ProVision Partners Cooperative formed a feed partnership with Allied Cooperative at the West Salem feed mill.  
2022Scenic Valley Cooperative/Infinity Feeds merged into ProVision Partners Cooperative.
2023ProVision Partners Cooperative and Allied Cooperative merged to form ProVision Partners Cooperative, doing business as (dba) Allied Cooperative.

Community Involvement

In addition to supporting agriculture in West Central Wisconsin over the past 100+ years, Allied Cooperative has always been a strong advocate of reinvesting in the communities we serve. Many of our employees give back to their communities, and we donate thousands of dollars annually to community organizations and local events because we want to see them succeed. These include: 

  • 4-H Clubs and Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapters 
  • Local School Districts & Student Activities 
  • County Fairs & Youth Animal Livestock Auctions 
  • Food Pantries 
  • Safety Training for Fire Departments and First Responders

Scholarships

Allied Cooperative is proud to award numerous scholarships, each year, to full-time students pursuing post-secondary education. Applicants will be scored on their scholastic achievement, leadership, written essay questions and perceived ability to contribute to the future of their chosen career path. Preference is given to those pursuing a degree in Agriculture.
